Mini Book Time with Miss Islah | YouTube video #3

Time flies and we are already on the third story video! Actually, yesterday when I realized that we had 9 weeks of break, I could’t believe it… Minutes don’t pass, but weeks pass like seconds… Weird… or I’m kinda lost 😀

This time we are reading Farmer Mable’s story from our course book English Play Box 3.

Farmer Mable, the dog and the cat are sleeping in Farmer Mable’s warm bedroom. Suddenly, there is a loud noise! Farmer Mable wakes up. The dog wakes up. The cat wakes up. They are scared! Who’s there?

Cluck, cluck, cluck! It’s a brown chicken. Quack, Quack, Quack! It’s a white duck.

It’s cold outside, come inside!

The story goes like that till Farmer Mable’s bedroom is full of farm animals 🙂

At the end of the story, we see Farmer Mable’s house and the rooms of the house actually and see that Farmer Mable had to sleep in the living room, because all the animals are sleeping on her bed! Meanwhile, the cow is sleeping in the bathroom 🙂

The Topics and Structures recovered with this story: Farm animals, colors, rooms of the house, inside / outside, warm / cold, feelings, “Suddenly, there is a loud noise. …wakes up. They are scared. Where is..?”

I feel that this story time routine YouTube video thing has also become our routine 😀 Kids are actually watching it and learning the structures and vocabulary pretty well. I didn’t expect “the YouTube effect” would work with my videos 😀 I liked that. If I keep on doing this don’t be surprised 🙂

If you are a newcomer, you may want to have a look at the first blog post where I tell all the details about this process, including these topics:

  • What does this mini book look like?
  • Why I did it
  • Does it work?
  • Story: Jeanne’s Birthday Party: Topics and Structures

Here is our 3rd story video:

I’m not a Youtuber or wanna be and these videos are not perfect; but I really enjoy doing this for my students. I see that they like it and most importantly, they can learn by themselves so that I can have more time for including other activities during my online lessons.

But of course, it doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t be happy if you subscribe to my channel 😀

Keep Calm and Read Stories <3
