Mini Book Time with Miss Islah | YouTube video #5

Actually we have finish our course book English Play Box 3 with Luisha’s Vehicles story; but I’ve decided to read more stories for my students to watch during their summer holiday.

Plus, I’m planning to record some flashcard game videos to have some vocabulary revision. I think after this story I’ll be sharing my first “Vehicles” vocabulary flashcard game. Kids can watch them and practice both words and structures related to our past units.

So, I’m continuing with our course book’s first unit’s story: “Zack’s coloring activity.” As you can guess, this story is about colors; actually “mixing colors.”

Zack is coloring a sea picture and when he realizes that he has no green, orange, pink, purple and brown paint, he starts to cry. Play Box says he could help him and this is when all the mixing colors adventure starts!

English Play Box series introduces this topic with a very nice story. Kids like to see how Play Box mixes colors and helps Zack finish his picture step by step.

I hope my students watch these videos during their super fun summer holiday 😀 I lowered my expectations of course; but even if only one kid watches it, I’m gonna be grateful ^_^

Here is our 5th story:

The Topics and Structures recovered with this story: Blue, red, yellow, black, white, orange, green, purple, pink, brown. Mixing Colors: “Red and yellow make orange.” Happy / Sad. Sea Vocabulary: Octopus, seaweed, seashells, starfish, sand, rocks, treasure box, necklace, mirror.

If you are a newcomer, you may want to have a look at the first blog post where I tell all the details about this process, including these topics:

  • What does this mini book look like?
  • Why I did it
  • Does it work?
  • Story: Jeanne’s Birthday Party: Topics and Structures

I’m not a Youtuber or wanna be and these videos are not perfect; but I really enjoy doing this for my students. I see that they like it and most importantly, they can learn by themselves so that I can have more time for including other activities during my online lessons.

But of course, it doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t be happy if you subscribe to my channel 😀

Keep Calm and Read Stories <3
