Escape the Classroom no.14 | Monkeys in School | Non Digital

Hi All!

I know, it’s been a while… Wow! Nearly 3 years passed after the latest post.

I was working on another ELT course book project and that took about 2 years to finish. It’s my baby. It’s beautiful and I put my heart on that project, too. If you want to have a look at it I’m dropping a link for you. It’s called Rise up! series, and I created it for primary level students.

After that, I decided to do different things like creating workshops or doing some private teacher training events but none of them felt ok or wasn’t even done. And yes, although I love writing and creating, working as a full time author was definitely not my thing.

So, like happens and by chance, I get a chance to open my own kindergarten! I said, why not?

Lately, I’ve been working on creating my dream school ^_^ You can check it out here.

Couple of weeks ago I gave a workshop on behalf of Oxford University Press for a private primary school in Istanbul. I had lessons with 3rd and 4th graders. So, I designed this game for them and as the school couldn’t provide tablets for kids, I had to go “non digital” for the first time.

You know what? It turned out to be one of the best games I’ve created. No tech, only printed materials. Loved that.

How to Play the Non Digital Version

If you played one of my Escape the Classroom games, you would know that students write their passwords to the Google Forms sections on their tablets. And if they get the password correct, they can pass to the next sections…

In this new version (No Tech Version) in stead of writing the passwords to the Google Forms, kids need to come to you and show YOU the password. By the way you have the game pages printed and if they get the password correct, you give them the paper.

So, if they want to play the game they need the paper (the game pack). The game pack is in your hands 🙂 If they want to get a paper from you, they need to answer all the questions and show you the password.

Yes, it is definitely less practical compared to the digital one, but if you have no option, I think it’s worth to give a try.

This one you see is the Game Pack. You print it out and cut in 4 pieces. Give the first one to your students. They answer the questions according to the story link below.

They write the password, show it to you, if the password is correct, you give them the second piece of paper… Ta da!

You can read or print the story from this link: STORY SLIDE MONKEYS IN THE SCHOOL.

Thank you for passing by <3 Hope you like the game. If you have any questions please comment down below.

See you around.
